3-4 million healthy animals are euthanized every year in the U.S. due to over population via backyard breeding along with dogs and cats not being spayed and neutered in general. In Marion County we are blessed with not only amazing shelters but also wonderful rescue groups that aid with this situation.
The majority of our rescues come to us needing medical care and were on the list to be euthanized in a shelter or were abandoned by the previous owner. Under the doctors’ supervision these pets are nursed back to health and are later placed up for adoption though one of our many wonderful local rescue groups! At Evergreen Veterinary Hospital we believe when you adopt one pet you SAVE two lives, the one you take home and the one that you just made room for at the rescue.
